Transmission

Below is the transmission unit of the Churchill tank as seen from the rear.

(Above) Attached to the tranmission unit is an air compressor. On each end the transmission are attached the large sterring brake drums. Each drum contains two brake shoes the adjustment holes for which can be clearly seen.

(Below) The three prongs that can be seen projecting forwards on the top of the unit are the linkages for the selector rods which would have been routed through the bracked mounded below. Obsured by the frontal support blocks is a pully wheel from which the turret drive generator was driven.
